C-47 General Manufactured Housing Contractor license in California

Updated November 1, 2026 · Official name from CSLB's classification list

A C-47 contractor installs, alters, repairs or prepares to move manufactured homes, mobilehomes and multifamily manufactured homes, along with their foundations and accessory structures. On a single-family site, a C-47 can also hook up gas, water, sewer and electric service to the home.

CSLB's ADU guidance says a C-47 can install an ADU that is a manufactured home built off site. Recreational vehicles, commercial coaches and factory-built housing under a different state law are excluded. See our ADU license guide.
