Commercial General Contractor Level 1 (CGC1) license in Oregon

Lets a business bid and perform work in any number of unrelated building trades on small and large commercial structures.

This is the commercial counterpart of a general contractor license. Level 1 and Level 2 cover the same work. Level 1 calls for key employees with at least eight years of combined experience and carries the higher bond and insurance.

The state minimums are an $80,000 bond and $2 million aggregate in liability insurance. Commercial contractors must carry workers' comp even if the business is in the exempt class.

A commercial endorsement alone doesn't cover a house. Work on residential structures takes a residential endorsement, and a business doing both needs both, with a bond for each. Apartment or condo buildings over four stories count as large commercial.
